This is one of those ideas that’s so fantastically simple but also so hard to find online.
Travels with my baby charts the days and sleepless nights of a Mancunian baby, Milo, and his mother.
It’s funny, it’s useful, it’s regularly updated, it’s cleanly executed with a nice sense of easy to read style and, most importantly of all, it does that thing all good blogs do – rings true.
Take this short recent extract as an example;
“I don’t know why, but I go all posh when I’m pissed off. I found myself saying ‘chop chop’ to some sullen lad at Oxford Road Station the other day (shortly before making him carry Milo’s buggy up the stairs). Anyway, back to Trof: I’m about to launch into a full tirade when I realise that a) I’m in public and b) Milo has just puked down my top.”
All the local venues visited are rated for their child-friendliness with the The Manchester Bog Roll – best baby change facilities given star ratings.
It avoids any of those ‘look at my clever’ baby stuff often seen on the mom blogs and successfully manages to combine being a useful guide for parents, grand-parents, or anyone with kids in tow with being an entertaining read that even non-parents can enjoy.
Myself and Paul will be hunting around for blogs or websites to feature here, add to our blogroll and include in the e-view page of the M.E.N on Saturday so, if you’ve got one to nominate, contact me by email or by submitting details below. The only criteria is that they have some connection with Manchester.
