A peak at what’s going on next Tuesday @ smc_mcr

With just one week to go, the plans for Manchester’s very first Social Media Café are certainly hotting up.
Forget the US elections – this is the news event for the city’s digerati!
So what’s in store next Tuesday at The Northern?
Top blogger and general all round web publishing expert Craig McGinty is going to be giving us the benefit of his wide experience over many years and then there will be a panel discussion looking at that much discussed debate – Is blogging dead?
The panel – chaired by yours truly – is made up of some of the region’s most innovative users of social media.
Already confirmed, alongside Craig, is award-winning blogger Martin Bryant – watch this blog for more panellist announcements, soon!
And the organisation of this non-organisation is also shaping up behind the scenes.
Following a (rather protracted) debate at the Manchester Social Media Café Google Group there is an agreed hash tag convention for all you tweeters, videobloggers and Flickr snappers – (smc_mcr) and then there’s the lovely design of the donated logo on this page.
(JPGS available for use at the Google Group).
Membership has been growing steadily (82 as of this post) and, of course, there’s still time to join in.

The first Manchester Social Media Café meeting is on 11th November at The Northern, 56 Tib Street, Manchester at 6pm.
