Is blogging dead? The first debate @ #smc_mcr

Given the panellists, it was almost inevitable that the question posed, Is blogging dead?, would be met with a resounding ‘no’!
With most of those debating (myself included) being multiple bloggers, there was a risk that this question was something like asking turkeys for their thoughts on Christmas, but we did get very varied responses – and a debate that ran over time thanks to so many audience questions.
You can get a flavour of the debate from the live streaming I’ve archived below.
The panellists were –
A few thoughts not captured on film which came out of the Q&A;
What’s in store for the future?
Me – more use of GPS technology and definitely more mobile for both content delivery and participation.
Craig – people need and will have a greater awareness of what services do with their personal data.
Chi Chi – there will be a bid rise in corporate blogging, companies using platforms to build relationships.
Martin – more multi-media blogging coming up, particularly video.
Which are the panelists’ favourite blogs?
Craig – Charles Bremner of The Times and readwriteweb.
Chi Chi – Dooce.com, Silicon Alley Insider and Samsung’s participatory photo blog thephotographicadventuresofnickturpin.com.
Martin – The Inquisitor, Mobile Industry Review and someoneoncetoldme.

    Thanks for an entertaining and useful event! Will definitely try and make the next one, very glad that Craig invited me.
    The panel did great, though I’d love to know, is it really only only bloggers who read other blogs?! I’m sure not, but it often seems that way!

    Hi Andrea, glad to hear you enjoyed it! So did I.
    On the blogs point, I hope you’re thought is a wrong one but then again, maybe all online users/readers are bloggers anyway, it’s just that some haven’t yet realised their potential πŸ˜‰
