If you’re not aware that the next Social Media Cafe event for Manchester is on in five days time – well you just haven’t been online!
Yes, everything is in place for a great unconference style night of geekery, digi-doings and twitteroo-ing! And as well as the big screen Twitter back channel again, the proceedings will also be treated to the accompaniment of the social media cafe’s very own last.fm radio station.
It’s ended up with the five great speakers detailed below.
A Beginner’s Guide to Social Media
A hands on introduction to blogging and twittering for the uninitiated. A safe place to share your thoughts and reservations about this new medium. Come prepared to dip your toes into this brave new world with Chi-chi Ekweozor
Earning an income through your blog.
Advertising ideas for online publications but also thoughts on selling products and your own skills with Craig McGinty.
Are Social Media tools the key to unlocking truly productive multi-location projects?
Can the face-to-face demands of collaborative team-working be replaced or simply augmented by Social Media? with Tim Difford.
Using Social Media in Learning
Experiences on how different social media environments support differing kinds of learning. Hopefully to identify the best places to do different things. I’ve actively used Facebook, Google Groups, CollectiveX and various wikis – perhaps there are other environments we should look at with David Bird.
Are GPS enabled smartphones the future of social networking? with Julian Tait who would also talk about developments in location targeted content.
It never fails to impress just how many people of such calibre are prepared to give up their time to help spread some social media expertise – for absolutely zilch payment – so a big thank you to everyone involved.
If you want to come along make sure you register beforehand at the official wiki or via the dedicated Twitter stream. If you’re producing content around the event, don’t forget to tag everything #smc_mcr.
See you at The Northern from 6pm on Wednesday.
