Twittering About the Arts

I remember asking our student placement what that website with the strange name was that all the bands were now using. That must have been all of three years ago, and since then Myspace begat Facebook begat Twitter, and if any one is as long lived as a Methuselah I’d be surprised.
For the arts sector its not just a case of getting your head round the new technology, but keeping it up to date, and then making it work for your organisation. But what’s interesting is that as soon as an organisation has got an enthusiast for, say, Myspace, or Facebook, the leap they need to make to create the next-thing, in this case, Twitter, isn’t that hard. In my own Twitter stream I like to mix up the personal, with a few useful news and information feeds, so it’s great that I’m now following Oldham Coliseum, and will no doubt add any number of new arts organisations to my list over the coming months as they migrate, jump or join Twitter. If any art twitterers are reading this, then you know who to follow….
