Blog of the week: Hey! Manchester

This week’s pick of the post is, unusually, a brand new blog. Coming from the keyboard of blogger extraordinaire Chris Horkan (who also posts at the Manchester-must site Mancubist) the fledging music blog Hey! Manchester is sure to fly.
As the man in the picture says, it may be a little thing (at the moment) but it makes a big difference!
Chris told me why he decided to launch this completely new blog now: “I do cover music on Mancubist but I felt I could write about it more often and in more depth on a dedicated blog. It’s my biggest passion so I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. And if you build it, they will come, as a great man once said…”
And the 27-year-old arts journalist, web developer and music promoter who is based in South Manchester has high hopes for his latest project:” It’s going to be an all singing, all dancing music blog – so packed full of videos, downloads, streams and all that multimedia goodness.
“Plus, I’m going to use my contacts in the music community to post exclusive interviews and audio. If you’re interested in folk, Americana or alternative music in Manchester, you’ll hopefully find something of interest. “
Already posted this week is a round-up of all the gigs happening in this musically-blessed city, the rather startling image of Morrissey naked shown above and an unplugged video of Andrew Bird in Paris plus audio track samples.
So hey! now’s the time to subscribe and be there at the start of something.
We will be hunting around for blogs or websites to feature here and in the MEN’s e-view page every Saturday as well as add to the blogroll so, if you’ve got one to nominate, submit a link below. The only criteria is that they have some connection with Manchester.
