#Futur09 Festival will include social media summit

It seems the work to get this year’s Futuresonic Fesival up and running is well underway with high-profile events looking at some of the key themes and issues presented by the emerging world of social media.
With a whole summit dedicated to social technologies this year, the annual festival of art, music and ideas taking place in the city in May promises plenty of thought-provoking material.
Now in its 14th year, the festival combines art and music events with the technologies summit which promises to bring together “an international conference of 500 opinion formers, futuroligists, artists, researcher and technologists to explore the latest upgrade affecting today’s digital culture”.
The highlights are likely to be around the stated themes of digital futures, identity and trust, the semantic web, mobile and the technological interfaces with the environment.
The official launch takes place next week but those looking for some advance information can get more at the website or by following the Twitter stream @futuresonic09. The agreed hash tag is #Futr09.
The event is being held between the 13-16 May at Contact. More news on this as we get it at this blog too.
