I’m fascinated by the topic of tomorrow’s RedEye network meeting for photographers held at the MDDA. Tim Lambert and Ross Dalziel, from SoundNetwork are coming along to talk about “the opportunities for photographers using sound…with work appearing on YouTube and Vimeo, Magnum in Motion, BBC Big Screens and at Redeye’s own recent event Projection 09.”
Anyone who has ever worked with film knows that so much of the emotional heft of a film can be contained in the music – whether sentimental or serious, horrifying or humorous – but its interesting to see that the web, as a place where all kinds of digital content can stand together or alone, is becoming a great place for cross-fertilisation. Although Redeye is a network for photographers I’ve frequently found their network events to have a wider appeal, and tomorrow’s a case in point.
