#smc_mcr The ‘what happened last night’ edition

Blog posts capturing some of the main points from this month’s Social Media Cafe are already surfacing. In total there were three unconference format sessions which followed the talk by the creator of someoneoncetoldme.com which I’ve already posted on here.
The session on Extending WordPress with Dave Mee and Gray attracted a crowd – and included goodies which could extend your love for theopen-source platform as far as a temporary tattoo!
Dave’s presentation is available on slideshare here, and Gray‘s are below:

The session on Social Media Market with David Bird not only prompted the noiseiest debate of the evening (!) – it also appears to have sparked the start off a whole new Manchester blog.
At thye blog Searched, Designed, Developed , David Taylor reports;

“At the end of the session we have agreed to meet again and start a blog for professionals in Manchester and how we can use social media together, which I-COM has volunteered to host for free because we want to do our bit to help foster discussion within the industry that will benefit everybody. ”

Sounds an interesting development and one I’ll report back on as soon as.
Martin Bryant is sharing his slides from last night’s presentation on his blog and introduces them with this modest post; “I was a little worried that it would be a bit too much like preaching to the converted but the people there, including journalists and academics, seemed to enjoy my introduction to services like Shozu, Qik and Google Latitude. We also got on to talking about the ethics of mobile video broadcasting – something I’ve discussed here before.” He’s also produced a gallery of pictures from the night – see a slideshow here.

There’s a couple of Qik videos from the night from me here too.
If you attended last night what did you think of the event? How could it be improved? What were the main points you took away? Please feel free to post any comments below.
