Celebrating the power of the cartoon

By using humour and wordplay, cartoons can often shine a light on an issue in a succinct way that can be difficult to achieve in text or photography.

And following the great British tradition of cartooning, Private Eye has become a leader in the form. So it’s been an absolute privilege for me to have had the opportunity to work on the publicity for an exhibition of one of the satirical newspaper’s longest served illustrators, Mike Barfield

The polymath artist, author, biologist, TV producer and radio comedy writer opens a unique show in his home town tomorrow – a collection of almost 30 years of work published at his “Apparently…..” column.

You can read more about the Mike’s world and the upcoming exhibition at many recent news publications including this from the Darlington and Stockton Times.

  • The Mind of Mike Barfield free exhibition is at Rural Arts, Thirsk, North Yorkshire from Tuesday, October 8 to Saturday, October 19 and works will be available to purchase at an affordable price.
  • Free tickets for an evening with Mike Barfield on Friday 11th October, 7pm can be reserved at the website https://www.ruralarts.org.
