So the judging for this year’s awards is done – well almost! Just as I’d chosen my finalists, the good people at City Life came in with a £300 award to be presented to the cream of the cream, the blog of the blogs this year.
So us judges will have a further round to judge to come up with the ultimate Manchester City Life Blog of the Year in time for the awards ceremony at Matt and Phred’s Jazz Club on Weds, October 22 .
I know judges always say “it’s hard to choose”, “there was such a strong field on entrants”, blah, blah but I have to say this is very true of this particular awards scheme.
Part of the issue is the fact that the blogs can be very different not just in style, but in subject matter and we end up comparing a music blog with a piece of literary work or a diary. It’s not comparing oranges with oranges more like apples and orangutans.
I’ve suggested that future schemes perhaps sub-categorise further so that our dedicated band of city music bloggers could show their true worth. I’d love to know what you think of that idea!
Anyway – the job’s a good un. My shortlist is back with Kate who will do the final tallying and is being yet again tireless in her work to organise, administer and promote the Manchester Blog Awards.
The full shortlist is here and I’ve also added all those nominated to this blogroll too.
Some will be familiar faces, some maybe new experiences – all are worth a look.
Enjoy, happy blogging and hope to see plenty of you at Matt and Phred’s Jazz Club on Weds, October 22.
